I’m Jon Fila, founder of Inclusive AI Strategies. I help schools and organizations mitigate the bias baked into generative AI and build governance, prompting, and training strategies that let them use AI with equity and intention.
I’ve spent my career promoting equitable access to high-quality educational experiences for all learners. I’ve led digital accessibility initiatives, developed curriculum, facilitated the adoption of Open Educational Resources (OER), and authored four books on the use of AI in education.
As an educational consultant, I provide presentations, workshops, and customized training for school districts and organizations across the United States. My work sits at the intersection of AI, equity, and practical classroom application, always grounded in the reality of what educators and students actually face.
In an era where AI headlines promise revolution and the temptation is to “have AI do it for you,” Inclusive AI Strategies offers a different path, one rooted in wisdom, equity, and foresight.
If you’ve ever looked at an AI-generated response and thought, “There is no way I can use that, or put that in front of someone else”, you’re not alone. It happens to me every day. If it’s not something I would put in front of my own children, why would I think it’s good enough for my audience?
Through short, engaging modules, Inclusive AI Strategies offers a path to understanding how AI can be tailored to respect diverse perspectives, promote Social Emotional Learning (SEL), and adhere to Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles. Learn to challenge the status quo, prompt AI to serve the needs of all learners, and critically assess the content it generates.
The focus extends beyond adoption to responsible integration, where AI tools are used collaboratively and thoughtfully, with a constant eye toward inclusion and equity.
How I work
When AI tools are built on data that reflects existing inequities, “just add an equity module” doesn’t cut it. The work has to be designed for equity from the ground up, or it reproduces exactly what it claims to fix.
Accessible design benefits everyone, but it’s essential for the learners most often left out. I treat it as a non-negotiable baseline in every training, resource, and recommendation.
The people doing the work know things that dashboards and vendor demos don’t capture. I start with educators’ lived experience and build strategy outward from there, not the other way around.
